Bylaws

By-Laws for NTDA             revised March 10, 2007

 

  Section A- Officers

  1.         Selected for two years with the exception of treasurer, web master, tournament director

  2.         Reimbursements to the following officers:

  Treasurer, Tournament Director $100.00

  Secretary-$100.00

  3.         Officers responsible for annual meeting , tab room, correspondence to members, assembly of   tournament schedule and qualifiers, preparations for Northeast Texas Debate Association   Championships and distribution of scholarships according to available money, decision on place/   date for Northeast Texas Debate Association Championships.

 

  Section B- Membership

  1.         Membership deadline January 31

  2.         Fees are $50 per school prior to January 1, $100 after January 1st.

  3.         Private and public schools eligible

 

  Section C- Tournaments and Eligibility for Northeast Texas Debate Association          Championships 

  1.         Only member schools eligible for Championship Tournament

  2.         Must be member by deadline to enter Championship Tournament

  3.         Must attend two qualifying tournaments and place in top 6 to qualify for Championship    Tournament. Hybrid teams cannot compete at the NTDA CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT.

  4.         Schools hosting tournaments must be members for winners to qualify for Championship Tournament

  5.         Tournament results must be sent to web master and tournament director.

  6.         Tournament fees for Championship Tournament are CX- $25.00 LD-$ 20.00 Extemp-$15.00

  7.         Schools must provide qualified judges for every two entries or parts thereof.

  9.         Scholarships awarded for top placers with minimum Extemp $200, $150, $100, Debate $300,  $250, $100 (two 3rd place)

  10.       Money will be sent upon request at end of the student's senior year

 

  Section D- Annual Meeting

  1.         Executive officers’ meeting in August

  2.         Annual meeting following Round 3 at Championship Tournament

  3.         Recommendations for changes should be sent to President by February 1st.

  4.         President will compile and forward recommendations to all members before Championship Tournament.
