In the 1990’s, debate coaches in the Northeast Texas area created a regional organization designed to meet the unique needs of debate students in the area.  The Northeast Texas Debate Association is open to any school within the Northeast Texas area that believes that UIL standards of communicative debate are superior.  The goal of the organization is to provide a forum for friendly, competitive debate for all our students.  In addition, the organization awards more than $3000 each year in scholarships to the winners of the Northeast Texas Championship, held in March.  Contests are offered in LD, Policy, Informative and Persuasive Speaking, and Prose and Poetry Interpretation.  Students who attend member schools may qualify for the tournament by placing in the top six at any tournament sanctioned by the NTDA.  (For a list of tournaments, click on "Calendar").
